Our story
As you arrive to Hentze Lane, pass each magnificent walnut tree that lines the gravel drive, history begins to unfold. Johan and Irene Hentze, originally from the Faeroe Islands, settled on the now 42 acre farm in 1902.
As the first generation, Johan and Irene began the traditions that Hentze Family continues today - providing for their family, and their community. The barn, already on the property when Johan and Irene arrived, is the iconic landmark that keeps the farm in the business that exists today. The farm has seen many reinventions, as has the barn. Once a diary barn, now a produce store, this family run business offers a niche experience for Hentze’s loyal customers.
The Hentze’s
Today many remember Merle and Alice, and their eldest son, Dick. Most know their other three children: Gordon, Karen and Greg, whom all reside on the family farm. Each of them continue to contribute to the farm operation, and now the youngest generation, the sixth generation, are living on the farm.
